Roland Ellis

Described in Legal 500 as being ‘one to watch’, Roland qualified in 2004 and joined Hickman and Rose in 2006. He is a solicitor-advocate with rights of audience in the higher courts.

He has represented many clients from arrest to trial for a broad range of criminal offences including rape, conspiracy to defraud and attempted murder. He now specialises in fraud, money laundering and overseas corruption cases, and has experience in dealing with associated matters such as restraint and confiscation orders. He is currently working with Andrew Katzen on one of the few FSA investigations into insider dealing.

Roland also has expertise in handling road traffic offences and advising on the effects of arrests, cautions and convictions on current and future employment.

He acts as junior and sole advocate in trials at both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court representing defendants charged with offences ranging from large scale fraud to driving offences.

Beyond his work at Hickman & Rose, he was involved in drafting the LCCSA’s response to Government proposals to amend the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and has written and contributed to articles on criminal law on Lexis Nexis and The Times.
