Nogah OferNogah Ofer

Nogah Ofer specialises in actions against the police and Prison Service, Home Office compensation claims for miscarriage of justice, judicial reviews and inquests, particularly into deaths in custody.

Nogah acts in a number of large scale civil actions against police forces arising from malicious prosecutions for murder resulting in many years of wrongful imprisonment. She has acted in successful test cases in the Court of Appeal and House of Lords, including the first judicial review to challenge the basis for making awards for miscarriage of justice under the Home Office scheme. She acted in the case of Michael O'Brien, one of the Cardiff Three who recently settled his claim against South Wales Police for £300,000. See Link to Guardian website

Nogah is a founding member of the Miscarriage of Justice Compensation Lawyers’ Group. Chambers UK 2008 quotes an interviewee saying of Nogah’s human rights work “I've never seen a more on-the-ball solicitor in terms of having the necessary materials - and she is very good at everything else too ”. Chambers 2009 puts her in tier 3 for admin law and tier 1 for police actions, adding this year thatshe  “works to a phenomenal level of detail - she can distil all the information in a really helpful way, and is full of good and creative ideas.”
