Business Crime partner Andrew Katzen has received widespread media coverage of comments he made after the acquittal of his client Nicholas Woods in a the SFO’s major Serco prosecution.
Andrew was quoted across the national and international media in relation to the highly significant matter, in which SFO dropped its prosecution three weeks into the trial, and after an eight-year-long investigation.
Andrew identified a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) entered into by the SFO and Serco in advance of the trial as a major contributory factor to the failed prosecution.
He was quoted as saying: “It is hard to avoid the conclusion that, once again, the narrative created by the DPA drove this investigation and did so in defiance of the facts.”
