Andrew Katzen in Solicitors Journal on impact of SRA’s increase in internal fining power
10 May 2024
Andrew Katzen has written an article for the Solicitors Journal in which he analyses the impact on misconduct enforcement of the SRA’s recent increase in internal fining powers.
Andrew explains how, not so long ago, solicitors and law firms could relatively easily determine whether to challenge a misconduct investigation, or seek agreement with the regulator.
But, as he writes, new SRA fining powers coupled with a change in attitude to enforcement at the regulator have “caused the misconduct kaleidoscope to shift”.
Andrew’s article sets out some of the changes taking place, and sketches the contours of some new rules of engagement with the SRA.
