Head of Civil Litigation Daniel Machover has told the Independent why he thinks a statutory public inquiry in the Covid-19 pandemic is the best way to determine how the UK Government has handled the crisis.
While there other forms of public inquiry do exist, Daniel points out that “inquiries conducted by civil servants behind closed doors or by politicians on select committees can be beholden to whoever is in power – questions can be withheld and avoided; witnesses can be missed.”
