Hickman & Rose research into the police use of Release Under Investigation (RUI) has been used by the Law Society Gazette.
The Gazette tells how a recent report, published by the CPS Inspectorate together with the Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services, has criticised as ‘unacceptable’ the lack of scrutiny in criminal matters where suspects are released under investigation.
The Gazette’s report goes on to use data gathered by Hickman & Rose which shows how, in the year 2017 / 18, at least 193,000 people were languishing in ‘legal limbo’ having been Released Under Investigation.
