Hickman & Rose is proud to be recognised again in The Times newspaper’s 2025 list of the best law firms in England and Wales.
Hickman & Rose has been a staple of The Times’ list since it was launched in 2018 and is this year again recognised as a leader in the categories of Crime; and Financial Crime, Fraud & Regulatory law.
The list’s compilers reference the firm’s success acting for defendants in high profile corporate crime cases. Mentioned clients include Carlo Palombo, whose appeal against conviction in relation to EURIBOR is before the Supreme Court, and a senior individual being prosecuted by the SFO for bribery and corruption in a case involving the company London Mining and the government of Sierra Leone.
The Serious and General Crime team is praised for its work for Auriol Grey, a disabled woman who successfully appealed against her conviction and three-year prison sentence for manslaughter. Grey had shouted and gesticulated at a cyclist riding on the pavement, who then toppled into the path of an oncoming car and tragically died.
The firm’s civil team is recognised for its pioneering work in inquests, inquiries and claims, often related to high-profile abuses of state power. It mentions the firm’s work representing Andrew Malkinson for claims arising from his wrongful conviction for rape and in relation to the public inquiry into the case; and also the family of Chris Kaba who was fatally shot by a Metropolitan Police firearms officer.
