Hickman & Rose Supreme Court appeal shortlisted for global ‘Case of the Year’
2 Oct 2025
Hickman & Rose client Carlo Palombo’s successful appeal to the Supreme Court against conviction has been shortlisted for Global Investigations Review’s ‘Case of the Year’.
Represented by Ben Rose, Tom Bushnell and Nisha Patel, Mr Palombo’s conviction for fraud connected to alleged EURIBOR manipulation was quashed by the Supreme Court in July this year.
Counsel instructed by Hickman & Rose were Tim Owen KC, Jonathan Crow CVO, KC; Katherine Hardcastle; Tim James-Matthews; and Elizabeth Walsh.
As well as being the successful culmination of a decade long battle against a miscarriage of justice, the Supreme Court ruling will have significant implications for other white collar criminal prosecutions. Hickman & Rose represent four of the remaining seven individuals convicted in relation to LIBOR/EURIBOR, three of whose convictions the SFO has already agreed are unsafe.
Mr Palombo’s case was heard alongside that of Tom Hayes. Mr Hayes was represented by Karen Todner and counsel Adrian Darbishire KC and Tom Doble.
The Hayes and Palombo appeal has been shortlisted for the prestigious GIR award against two US criminal prosecutions; a US civil case and a Swiss criminal matter. Full details here.
