Jenny Wiltshire explains dangers of misleading music festival sex offence advice in the Times
23 Jun 2022
As the Glastonbury music festival gets underway again, Head of Serious and General Crime Jenny Wiltshire has written an article for the Times in which she warns of misleading legal advice regarding sexual offences.
In her article, Jenny explains how ‘capacity’ can be crucial to determining whether someone consented to sex; and that while someone’s capacity may be impaired by drink and/or drugs, this does not necessarily mean they cannot have consented.
“If we want to end the scourge of festival sexual attacks — and also prevent any unmerited allegations — then it is crucial for festival goers to understand the true nature of consent”, she writes.
