Jenny Wiltshire is Law Society Gazette’s “Lawyer in the News” for Rajiv Menon KC contempt appeal

26 May 2026

Hickman & Rose’s Head of Serious and General Crime Jenny Wiltshire has again featured as the Law Society Gazette’s “Lawyer in the News”: this time for her work on behalf of Rajiv Menon KC.

Together with Hickman & Rose civil litigation partner Stefano Ruis, Jenny acted for Mr Menon KC in his appeal against a contempt of court referral following a closing speech made in a criminal trial connected to a Palestinian Rights protest. The Court of Appeal granted the appeal.

As well as speaking a little about her career so far, Jenny told the Law Society Gazette that she “felt honoured” to have acted in this “highly unusual case”.

“The fact that my clients are not normally eminent human rights barristers meant this felt much more like a ‘home game’ than is normally the case”, she said.

“I fight equally hard for all my clients, but I felt that if I got this one wrong, the result could negatively impact my, and every lawyer’s, ability to practice freely.”

Jenny last featured as Lawyer in the News in 2021 for her work quashing the convictions of the “Stockwell Six” miscarriage of justice victims.
