Jenny Wiltshire speaks out following quashing of client’s 50-year-old conviction

Head of Serious and General Crime Jenny Wiltshire has been quoted across the media following the quashing of her client Texo Johnson’s near 50-year-old conviction by the Court of Appeal.
Mr Johnson was aged 17 when he and five friends – who became known as the “Stockwell Six” – were falsely accused of assault by a corrupt British Transport Police (BTP) officer in 1972.
The BTP this year said it reviewed all the officer’s cases for evidence of further injustices, but Jenny told the BBC and others that, considering the 49 year delay, “it is unsurprising that the force’s available records have revealed no further mischief to be unravelled”.
Jenny went on: “I sincerely hope that the police’s internal review […..] was as thorough as it could have been and that there aren’t other victims who had to yet to achieve the justice they deserve.”
