Ross Dixon discusses SFO’s record of success and failure in Bloomberg analysis

Corporate and White Collar crime partner Ross Dixon has contributed to a Bloomberg article analysing the SFO’s record of success – and failure – in recent fraud and bribery matters.
Published soon after the agency was criticised by the Court of Appeal in the Unaoil matter, the Bloomberg piece highlights concerns about the agency’s direction under director Lisa Osofsky.
Ross highlights the agency’s focus on Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs). These, he says, have brought in revenue, but ‘if you’re judging [the SFO] on being able to successfully prosecute individuals and companies of the most serious fraud and bribery then I’m afraid it’s a very poor record.’
