Serious and General Crime partner Peter Csemiczky has written an article for the Solicitors Journal on proposed reforms to the pre-charge bail system.
Peter sets out why the current system does not work properly and explains why proposals contained in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill which are designed to solve it may actually make things worse.
Peter argues that the proposed plan to return to a system by which suspects can languish on pre-charge bail for months – or even years – on end risks breaching a fundamental rule of law.
