Careers

Hickman & Rose takes great pride in its collegiate work culture. We believe the best work comes when talented people are able to work together in an open-minded environment built on mutual respect and trust. We are always on the lookout for first rate legal talents seeking to achieve the very highest standards.

We positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. We offer training, support and flexible working and especially encourage applications from individuals from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds.

When advertising externally we place all staff vacancies on our website and some in the relevant legal press, such as the Lawyer, the Law Society Gazette or Legal Action Magazine, and others in the local press.

More information about the various roles is below.

Solicitors & Barristers

We are always pleased to consider applications from lawyers up to three years PQE with experience either in corporate criminal law or in financial or corporate work. More senior posts would depend on there being an identified recruitment need.

We will advertise externally for all solicitor posts which fall immediately vacant.

Paralegals

We conduct recruitment rounds at regular intervals. We welcome applications for paralegal positions from suitably qualified candidates (minimum usually LPC or Bar Final) and will keep them on file until the next round occurs.

Trainees

The application window for a Training Contract commencing March 2024 is now open.  Please click here for further information.

Work Experience

Hickman & Rose receive a large volume of speculative work experience enquiries every year. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate or respond to all of these and we have a limited capacity to offer work experience.

In an effort to ensure our work experience targets those individuals who may not have access to ready made networks within the legal world, our primary work experience offering is made through organisations that help young people and underrepresented groups enter their chosen career path. This year we are working in collaboration with Leaders Unlocked.

In addition to the above, we operate a work experience lottery twice annually which is open to all students able to meet the relevant criteria, namely educational attainment (the candidate will have at least an offer of a university place and not yet have embarked upon the LPC or BPC), being able to demonstrate that you are looking to pursue a career in law and have an interest in the particular areas of work that we do. The successful applicant will be drawn at random from the pool of applicants applying by the relevant deadline and offered one week unpaid placement at the firm.
