Toby Wilton is LSG’s “Lawyer in the News” for work on Andrew Malkinson matter

27 Apr 2026

Toby Wilton has been profiled in the Law Society Gazette as its “Lawyer in the News” following the conviction of an individual for sexual offences for which Andrew Malkinson was originally convicted.

Toby gives credit for Mr Malkinson’s successful appeal against conviction both to Mr Malkinson himself and his team at APPEAL, all of whom Toby describes as “ferociously determined”.

Toby, who represents Mr Malkinson in respect of the investigations into the miscarriage of justice and his compensation claims, describes the evidence that emerged during Paul Quinn’s trial, and subsequently in the media, as “damning of the authorities’ actions”.

He said: “The Andrew Malkinson Inquiry and the Independent Office for Police Conduct must now be allowed to rigorously investigate how this was allowed to happen so that those responsible can be held to account and this type of injustice can never happen again.”

Toby also gives his thoughts on the media’s role in the case; and some personal reflections on his professional life.
