Hickman & Rose was established in 1991 as a criminal defence firm with a founding commitment to hold the state to account. Based in Hackney, east London, we quickly became known for our high quality representation and within a decade grew to be one of the capital’s largest legal aid firms.
In 1994 we started to expand, moving first to larger premises in Islington, then soon afterwards adding satellite offices in Tottenham and Holborn.
In 1997 the firm added a dedicated civil litigation practice focussed on representing people wronged at the hands of the criminal justice system. This quickly grew to become an integral part of the firm’s identity.
In 2008 we consolidated all our operations in Clerkenwell. We re-focussed on privately funded corporate and general criminal defence work and added a regulatory law practice. The civil team expanded from its core civil liberties / human rights work to take on complex fraud-related civil litigation matters.
Hickman & Rose is a ‘go to’ firm working in corporate crime, white collar fraud and privately funded serious and general crime cases. We have become well known for handling the sensitive legal affairs of clients who demand a high level of discretion. We are equally well respected for our pioneering work in human rights and civil liberties, particularly as this relates to the criminal justice system.
Hickman & Rose is built around the three core values. These are:
Hickman & Rose takes its social responsibilities very seriously. The firm takes part in a wide variety of corporate social responsibility initiatives and the firm’s partners and staff are proud to support a range of charitable and other groups in the wider community.
