The IOPC has announced that it will open a homicide investigation into the death of Chris Kaba, who was shot by a police officer in south London.
On 9th Sept 2022 – four days after Chris died, and after intense pressure from the bereaved family – the IOPC announced that its investigation has been upgraded to homicide.
Chris’ family has welcomed the decision, and called on the IOPC “to use all its powers to make this an effective criminal investigation so that the police are held to account”.
