Jay Staker joined Hickman & Rose’s Civil Department in August 2020. His work focusses on civil claims arising from the Grenfell Tower fire, inquests, actions against the police, international law, and other human rights-based claims.
Jay read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at The University of Oxford before receiving a scholarship to study the LLM Law & Legal Studies at BPP University. Jay subsequently began the LPC at The University of Law.
Prior to joining Hickman & Rose, Jay worked as a public law paralegal at a legal aid law firm in London, developing extensive experience across asylum seeker support law, public law, community care, housing law, and human rights law. He has also worked for a law firm specialising in animal protection law, gaining experience across both criminal and civil law. Jay is experienced in bringing claims against both central and local government on behalf of claimants. Jay also has a wide range of volunteering experience, including at legal advice clinics.
