Andrew Katzen and Olivia Dwan analyse POCA trends in New Law Journal

Andrew Katzen and Olivia Dwan have written an article for the New Law Journal in which they analyse the growing importance of civil law proceedings in proceeds of crime law.

Andrew and Olivia identify the financial year 2020/21 as being when civil overtook criminal proceedings as the dominant means by which law enforcement attempts to recover the proceeds of crime.

They point out that of all the new civil POCA measures, Account Freezing and Forfeiture Orders are proving by the far the most popular with law enforcement. A total of £131m was frozen last year.
