Ross Dixon in media following acquittal of client Richard Morris in G4S case

13 Mar 2023

Ross Dixon has been widely quoted in the national and international media following the acquittal of his client Richard Morris in the G4S case.

Mr Morris, who is the former CEO of G4S UK & Ireland, was charged with seven counts of fraud relating to G4S’s contract to provide electronic monitoring services to the Ministry of Justice.

However, following a lengthy SFO investigation that began in 2013, he was acquitted of all charges when the SFO finally took the decision to offer no evidence against him on 10 March 2023.

In comments published by the BBC, The Times and others, Ross explained that the case had collapsed after the SFO had ‘failed to understand its own evidence, failed to secure significant evidence that would have demonstrated the true position… and only at the eleventh hour disclosed key material that undermined its case’.

Ross drew attention to the similarity of this case with those of Tesco and Serco – both cases in which H&R acted for defendants – where the individuals blamed for wrongdoing in a Deferred Prosecution Agreement were later acquitted without the case being left to a jury.
