Jenny Wiltshire in Telegraph on fact that over 40% of Covid fixed penalty notices remain unpaid

Head of Serious and General Crime Jenny Wiltshire has commented in the Daily Telegraph on the news that over 40 per cent of all coronavirus fixed penalty fines (FPNs) have not been paid.
Jenny pointed out that many of these fines are likely to have been wrongly issued, and that pursuing them all will take considerable expense and effort.
“With so many notices wrongly issued for breaches of government guidelines rather than the law, and the backlog in criminal cases clogging up the courts, this use of resource might be hard to justify”, she told the paper.
