Kate Maynard quoted following official police apology to Dalian Atkinson family

Civil Litigation partner Kate Maynard has been widely quoted in the media following an official police apology made to her clients, the family of former professional footballer Dalian Atkinson.
Pippa Mills, Chief Constable of the West Mercia force, apologised after police officer PC Benjamin Monk was earlier this year found guilty of Dalian’s manslaughter by tasering him to the ground and kicking him in the head.
Kate highlighted the Chief Constable’s comment that ‘a police uniform does not grant officers immunity to behave unlawfully’, saying this admission is ‘especially pertinent in a year that has seen other terrible examples of deadly police violence’.
