The latest edition of the Legal 500 legal directory has again ranked three Hickman & Rose departments as operating at the highest possible level.
The Business Crime, Civil Litigation, and Serious and General Crime departments all retain their Tier 1 rankings in the 2027 guide.
Business Crime is included for its work in Fraud: White Collar Crime (advice to individuals): an area in which the team displays ‘excellence at every level’ and ‘secures outstanding results for its clients’.
The ‘expert’ Ben Rose and ‘shrewd and committed’ Ross Dixon are both Hall of Fame lawyers in this area. Andrew Katzen is a Leading Partner; Emily Sheils and Christopher Houssemayne du Boulay are Next Generation Partners; and Steffan Baker is a Leading Associate. This year Tom Bushnell joins Claire Wallace as Key Lawyer in this area.
Serious and General Crime is ‘the best in their field’ in the category of Crime: General, with Jenny Wiltshire and Ben Rose both Hall of Fame lawyers. Jenny has ‘a strong track record in defending celebrities and senior regulated professionals accused of sexual offences’. Ben is described simply as ‘a legend’.
The ‘outstanding’ Peter Csemiczky and ‘exceptional’ Kate Goold remain Leading Partners, and Key Lawyer Rose Commander is ‘tenacious, talented and at the top of her game’.
The Civil Litigation department is ranked Tier 1 for its work in Civil Liberties and Human Rights. Led by Daniel Machover – described as a ‘true leader in the field of police and public law’ and this year elevated to the Hall of Fame – the team has ‘incredible depth of quality’.
Next Generation Partner Helen Stone ‘brings clarity and structure to complex inquest matters’ while Ellie Cornish – ‘always the most knowledgeable person in the room’ – continues to be ranked as a Leading Associate. Laura Chapman is ‘efficient and always on top of the case.’
The Legal 500 guide also praises Hickman & Rose’s work in the categories of Financial Services: Contentious Regulatory; Professional Discipline; and Administrative and Public Law.
In Financial Services: Contentious Regulatory, Tom Bushnell (who ‘has built a strong practice in FCA enforcement and regulatory litigation’) is this year promoted to Next Generation Partner alongside Claire Wallace, who ‘has fantastic knowledge’ of financial regulatory bodies’. Ben Rose is a Key Lawyer.
In Administrative and Public Law, Kate Maynard retains her place in the Hall of Fame, with Helen Stone a ‘Next Generation Partner’ and the ‘empathetic and extremely professional’ Katherine Sorab promoted to Key Lawyer. Stefano Ruis is ‘a fantastic lawyer, with extraordinary experience particularly in the criminal/public law field’
